What's The Issue?

WE’RE THE ISSUE MAGAZINE - IT’S NICE TO FINALLY MEET YOU.

We're ecstatic to introduce ourselves, and share our journey with you!

The Issue Magazine is a local digital magazine dedicated to covering all things fashion related in Edmonton. Our mission is to uplift, highlight and spread the word about this city's finest fashion treasures, and in turn,  bring some of that 'Empire State of Mind' back to Edmonton.

THE ISSUE WE'RE ADDRESSING

Our magazine was founded with the sole purpose of combating whispers that Edmonton's Fashion scene has dissipated. The name 'The Issue' was inspired by the problematic sentiment that YEG can't seem to hold it's own in the fashion realm. The ISSUE is that our own locals underestimate us. The ISSUE is that discouraged undergrads are seeking opportunities abroad, only fueling the cycle. The ISSUE is that many are mourning a fashion scene that is alive and well. Fashion is absolutely alive and well in Edmonton, if you know where to look.

We officially UN-declare fashion dead in Edmonton.

Sure, we may be growing - our potential as a fashion capital is endless and ever progressing, but what we don't want to do, is fail to acknowledge all those acting as building blocks for our city's fashion culture.

Local fashion businesses specializing in clothing, shoes, jeweler and accessories - we want to celebrate you! Stylists, influencers and industry leaders - we want to hear from you! We want to spread the word to others about champions like you who play a crucial role in elevating our fashion scene. Students, assistants and interns interested in fashion - we want to help get you connected with all the right people and resources to help you pursue a successful career. Edmonton is rich with stories and experiences of veterans in the fashion world, and our dream is to share that with each of you.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT FROM US

You can expect us to publish monthly articles at the end of every month, highlighting work we've done either a local brand or business. You can also expect more general monthly mini-issues to be published in the middle of each month.

You can expect us to share news, events, store openings, and dedicate ourselves to continue learning about our own city as well. Beginning in July, our subscribers can expect a monthly newsletter to their inbox on the first Friday of every month.

We hope to raise awareness around local fashion events, start-ups, fashion news and education, and take this opportunity to realize that our fashion scene isn't as small as we think.

This is definitely a wondrously grand ambition we've taken on, but we're absolutely ready to bring you on this journey with us!
