SO what’s the issue anyway?
Based out of Alberta, we absolutely ADORE our province. We’ve fallen in love with Alberta as a treasure that is rich in arts and culture, and bursting at the seams with genius entrepreneurs. There’s such a strong energy of relentless ambition as creatives uplift and connect with each other. Personally, our business with Alberta is unfinished until we’ve had a chance to bring a taste of Alberta to the world, and a taste of fashion from around the world, back to Alberta.
And the number of times we’ve heard ‘fashion is dead in Edmonton’? UGH. Please, spare us. There’s so much to share. SO many shows, events, influencers and local brands that haven’t had the spotlight they deserve — until now. Enter: The Issue Magazine.
Our sole purpose at The Issue Magazine is to shine a spotlight on Alberta’s underappreciated fashion scene.
The ISSUE is that our own locals underestimate us.
The ISSUE is that discouraged undergrads are seeking opportunities abroad, only fueling the cycle.
The ISSUE is that many are mourning a fashion scene that is alive and well.
Fashion is absolutely alive and well in AlbErta, if you know where to look. We officially UN-declare fashion dead in Alberta.
The magazine began locally, and now it has grown bigger than even us. There is such a gap in this industry in Alberta, that we are now on a mission to put Alberta on the map as a fashion capital. Doubt us? We’d love to prove you wrong in our journey of bringing that ‘Empire State of Mind’ back to western Canada.
